Presentation, verification and storage of identity information remains a challenge in today’s digital infrastructure. Even today, we are often requested to scan our passports and send them over a barely secured channel to a party that may not be able to securely store the scan. Self-sovereign communication is an important aspect of self-sovereign identity (SSI), namely having safe, secure, private and independent communication channels to request and present identity information, and to execute the business decision for which that information was needed. This blog presents some emerging technologies related to self-sovereign communication. It also looks into requirements as often presumed by international SSI communities, and it examines how these requirements can be satisfied.
