Industrial design challenge offers $25,000 to innovate with new material and manufacturing platform.

Wevolver, in partnership with materials company, Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials, is excited to announce the launch of the KyronMAX® Design Challenge. The winner of the challenge will receive $25,000 worth of manufacturing services and support to realize their idea into a physical prototype.
The challenge invites industrial designers from around the world to submit ideas that utilize the KyronMAX® materials and platform. We are looking for products, components, and ideas that have previously been unable to be manufactured using traditional methods and materials.
The challenge brief:
Share a design that utilizes KyronMAX®’s range of breakthrough, high strength carbon fiber-based composites, and innovative manufacturing platform. The winners should provide a compelling explanation of how they utilize the breakthrough properties and sustainability the KyronMAX® suite of materials and platform offer. Entries close on March 12, 2021.
The winner of the challenge will receive $25,000 worth of manufacturing support to realize their idea as a fully developed prototype. Winners will work closely with the KyronMAX® team to develop their submission and make it ready for production. The winning package includes support with:
● Material selection
● Part design
● Testing and production of a functional prototype using SPRINT (Soluble PRinted INjection Tooling) technology
● Setup of production scale-up plan
● Assessment of the project’s sustainability and recycling potential in order to create zero waste
In addition, KyronMAX® and Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials will facilitate investment opportunities and assist with potential future co-branding activities.
KyronMAX® is the strongest injection moldable product available in the world today. The KyronMAX® series of products significantly changes the way design engineers can think of plastic materials. KyronMAX® can be molded using the same equipment and tooling as standard or unfilled resins, while compounds can be customized to meet application requirements.

Recycling that breaks the mold
